Responsive Web Design and Development

At Hendricks Web Development we build websites that are easy for the client to update as well as being fully responsive to any size device (smartphone, tablet, or computer). Whether you just need a personal blog, a resume site, or a brand new website for your business or organization, we would love to discuss it with you.

Some of Our Work

GV Graphics

GV Graphics

Hendricks Web Development was asked to develop the website for GV Graphics. We helped them convert their original design idea into a responsive design that displays well on any sized device. We then developed their website using the latest technologies.

Dick Sims Agency, Inc.

Dick Sims Agency, Inc.

We helped redesign the Dick Sims Agency website. We then used ExpressionEngine to make it easy for the clients to update the content themselves.

ArkWelding

ArkWelding

We were asked to develop this responsive website for Ark Welding. We also suggested setting up the photos as thumbnails in the Our Work section and having them open up in a light box when you click on them. The design was done by GV Graphics.

The Great Lakes Avicultural Society

The Great Lakes Avicultural Society

We did all of the design (except for the logo) and development for the The Great Lakes Avicultural Society website.

The Sharpening Guy

The Sharpening Guy

The Sharpening Guy LLC's website is their main source of business. We completely redesigned the website with a responsive layout so it displays well on all devices. Then, Statamic was used to make the website easy to update.

The Grand Rapids Camera Club

The Grand Rapids Camera Club

We converted this site to HTML5 and set it up using ExpressionEngine. The board members responsible for a particular area of the club can now update their section of the website themselves. We also made it so the Featured Photographer and Featured Gallery are chosen randomly every 10 minutes.

Building Blocks

Conceptualize

The first step in getting a quality website is to determine your goals for the website. This process involves answering a set of questions which include:

  • Who are my potential customers?
  • What do I want my customers to know about my business?
  • How many pages do I need?
  • What should the website look like?

Design

The second step in getting a great website is to have a great design. We can do a basic design for you, or you can hire a dedicated website designer to give you a more sophisticated design. It is helpful to show us a few of your favorite websites to help us get a feel for what you like.

Part of the design process is deciding how you are going to display your content. You will also have to decide what pages you are going to have so that you can choose a proper type of website navigation.

Develop

ExpressionEngine, Craft, Statamic, and front-end website development are our specialties. Whether we design the website for you, or you give us a design, we will hand code a custom template for your website and use ExpressionEngine, Craft, or Statamic to turn your design into a real website. We make sure that we use the best tools and methods available to give you a website that stays true to the design, is responsive, is cross browser compatible, functions properly, and is search engine friendly.

Publish

Once your website has been designed and developed we will work with you to add the proper content and make sure the publishing process goes smoothly. We will also help you choose a good host company for your needs.

Maintain

One reason we like ExpressionEngine, Craft, and Statmic so much is that they make it easy for you to update and maintain the content on your website. We will teach you how you can do this from almost any computer without any knowledge of the web languages. This is also cost effective for you since you don't have to keep paying someone each time you want to update the content on your website.

Profit

Websites are designed to promote your business or organization. An effective website should more than pay for itself.

About

Matt Hendricks

At Hendricks Web Development we build websites to make you, your business, or your organization look good. We will guide you through the entire process because we want to make it easy for you to get a website. In today's world your website is the face of your business or organization, and with the popularity of mobile web browsing, your website should display well on all sized devices. As business owners, we understand how important a website can be to your success. That is why, at Hendricks Web Development, we not only build websites that work well and are standards compliant, but we design and develop responsively so you never lose customers because of your website.

For most websites, we recommend using a content management system (CMS) so that you can update the website content yourself without having to pay us each time. We use a few different ones, and we will help you select the right one for your needs. However, if you just have a simple informational site that doesn't need to be updated frequently, then you might not need a CMS at all.

Please contact us to discuss your specific needs and see if we are a good fit for your project. We are happy to help with everything from a simple resume or blog site to a business or organization's site. We look forward to hearing from you.
